Shipping Policy
We ship across India from Thane. A gift usually has a date attached to it,
so this page is written to let you work backwards from that date.
How the timings work
Handling is 1-2 business days — from a confirmed order to the parcel leaving us. Transit
is on top: 2-4 business days to a metro address and 4-8 business days elsewhere.
Added together that gives 3-6 business days to a metro address and 5-10 business days elsewhere, which is the figure quoted everywhere on this site.
Working days exclude Sundays and public holidays.
About personalised items. Ten of the gifts here are made in an
A to Z range and there is no dropdown on this site to choose from. Put the initial in the order notes box
at checkout, or reply to the order confirmation email with it. We write back naming the letter before anything is
packed, and if we have not heard from you we ask rather than guess. That can add a day; it is worth the day.
For a personalised item, handling starts when the letter is settled, not when the payment goes through. If the
gift is for a fixed date, put the initial in at checkout and the two are the same moment.
Packing
Glass, ceramic and the hampers go into rigid cartons with the contents protected. Fabric items travel in a
sealed mailer. We do not put a glass or a ceramic tray into a padded envelope at any size.
Sending it as a gift
Put the recipient’s address as the delivery address and yours as the billing address. Tell us in the order
notes that it is a gift and we leave the price off the paperwork inside the parcel. We do not gift wrap, and we
would rather say so than take money for a service we cannot do well.
On delivery day
- Look at the carton before you sign. If it is crushed, soaked or rattling, refuse it and tell us.
- Photograph the carton and the item if anything is wrong, before the packing goes in the bin.
- Report damage within 48 hours of delivery to
connect@handmadegiftstore.shop. We replace or refund.
Delivery estimates are what our carriers commit to, not a guarantee. Festival season is the
obvious risk for a gift shop: the same week everyone is sending presents is the week the network is slowest. If a
gift is for a fixed date in October or November, order earlier than the estimate suggests.
Tax
HandMade Giftstore is a small online retailer and is not registered for GST:
turnover stays below the applicable registration threshold in India, so registration has not become compulsory.
GST is therefore not charged separately on any order, and no GST tax invoice carrying a registration number can
be issued. The figure printed beside a gift is the whole amount payable.
Orders placed after 3:00 PM IST are picked up the next working day. We do not dispatch on days the shop is closed or on public holidays, and delivery windows are estimates rather than guaranteed dates.
